Russell Peters: Red, White, and Brown features his performance at the WaMu
Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City. While his routine
touches on a number of topics from body hair to negative media stereotypes, the
bulk of his material is racial and cultural humor. The easily offended
will certainly have no trouble finding something to be offended about here, but
the humor is not intended to be racist or mean-spirited. Peters has a
knack for getting his audience to laugh at themselves, and he has particular fun
poking fun at his own Indian cultural heritage. Peters is obviously having
fun on stage and enjoys engaging the audience in his show, and you'll have fun
watching this DVD as well.
In addition to the WaMu Theater performance, the DVD includes four bonus
excerpts taken from other Peters performances. They're all good, but the
one titled "David and Vickey" in which he teases a couple in the audience who
insist that they're not on a date is particularly memorable. Rounding out
the package is a CD of the concert so you can enjoy Peters' comedy on the road.
