The original super nanny is back in the new release of Disney's Mary Poppins
45th Anniversary Edition. Two incorrigible children have just dispensed of yet
another nanny who could not stand the antics of her charges. Mary Poppins, a
magically gifted and practically perfect in every way nanny, seizes the
opportunity and brings order and discipline to the children's lives under the
guise of fun with the help of the effervescent chimney sweep played by Dick Van
Dyke. With the kid's lives in order, Mary sets her sights on turning around the
mood and fortunes of their boorish father who has simply forgotten how to find
any happiness in life.
This DVD gives a good reason to see a classic again for the first time. Julie
Andrew's role as Mary is very reminiscent of her lead in the Sound of Music, but
the London setting and variation on the story make this a very entertaining film
for the whole family.
