Drillbit Taylor is nothing that you haven't seen before, and when you've seen
it before it was undoubtedly done better. It's not a terrible movie, but it's
not a good one either. It's just sort of there, content to be mediocre and
devoid of motivation to be anything more than that. It's the story of three high
school freshman of the nerd variety who decides to enlist the services of a
bodyguard when they can no longer take the beatings they receive multiple times
a day at the hands of the sociopathic school bully. Their meager savings don't
go very far towards securing some muscle, so when former special operative
Drillbit Taylor arrives willing to work for them on the cheap they think that
their days as punching bags are over. Unfortunately, Taylor is a homeless
never-do-well looking to make some easy money off of the kids. After plenty of
unfunny moments, it turns out that the nerds have more strength than they
realize, Taylor has a change of heart and begins to care for the kids and
reevaluate his life choices, and the bully gets what's coming to him. No
surprises there, other than that the film manages to stretch itself to nearly
two hours in length plodding along from one unfunny fight scene to the next. The
filmmakers didn't put much effort into making this one, you shouldn't make the
effort to watch it..
