The only thing scary about this horror flick is the time wasted watching it...

The asylum referred to in the title of this lame and tame slasher flick was
once the site of tortuous therapies of questionable value employed by a doctor
to rid children of the after effects of childhood trauma. Now it is the
site of a growing college's latest dorm addition, and its firs residents soon
find that the long-dead doctor would very much like to begin his experiments
anew.
Unfortunately, for horror movie fans the scariest thing about Asylum is just
how poor a movie it is. The characters all fit into stereotypical roles,
but the actors still manage to struggle with their parts. Simply watching
these bad actors delivering their poorly written lines is pure torture, and
you'll find yourself wishing that the psychotic ghost doctor would just hurry up
and kill them all. The script is utterly devoid of tension and suspense,
but filled with inconsistencies and dropped threads. It was obviously
faced with severe budget constraints as well, because despite the supposedly
crowded conditions at the college, the only people living in the dorm are the
six main characters and their annoying resident advisor. Each student has
their own spacious room, and I have my suspicions that the same set was used for
each student's dorm room.
As the story tediously plods along, with each character in turn confessing a
childhood trauma on cue and then being killed by the doctor, you'll find
yourself looking at your watch and wondering how these kind of movies manage to
get made.
