With the release of the first Indiana Jones movie in nearly twenty years comes the inevitable re-release of the original trilogy on DVD.  Indiana Jones - The Adventure Collection is a three disc set containing Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  Each disc also includes a set of special features focused on the movie on the same disc.  The features included here are different than those that appeared on the previous Special Edition release set, so if you're a collector you may be tempted to purchase this latest release.  However, none of the bonus features are anything superior to those found on the previous release.  The most interesting of these features are current day interviews with the cast and crew that worked on the original films.  Also included are some behind the scenes pieces on location scouting for the films and a look at the melting faces effects from Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Some photo and storyboard galleries round out the special features set.

The movies themselves give the set a five-star rating, as the adventures are well worth repeat viewings at home.  The sound and picture transfer are excellent, with full 5.1 THX support.  Are you getting anything better than the original release?  No, not really, so it's hard to recommend to those who already have the trilogy in their collection.  If you haven't purchased the Indiana Jones movies yet, then compare the special feature set and get the one that is most appealing to you.  If it's still a toss up, then this set's packaging will occupy less space on your shelf.  There are only three DVDs compared to four with the other set, and this set features slim-line packaging.
