Street Fighter x Tekken was released back in March of 2012 and has been
receiving constant extra download content (DLC) as the months pass by. Capcom
recently released a package containing 12 additional Capcom and Namco characters
for Street Fighter x Tekken on the PS Store and Xbox LIVE marketplace for the
cost of $19.99 or 1600 points. When bought, this makes the current roster stand
at 53 characters for PS3 and 50 characters for Xbox 360. The following is the
list of characters for each side.
Capcom:
Dudley
Elena
Cody
Guy
Sakura
Blanka
Namco:
Lars
Alisa
Lei
Christie
Bryan
JACK-X
Each character has their own unique team story and ending when played with
their partner on the character select menu. They all have cutscenes associated
with their story like the existing characters. Each of them has their own set of
trials in challenge mode and their default outfits can all be customized with
additional colors. DLC costumes can be bought separately for each character just
like the old lineup.
The characters from the Capcom side are basically all taken from Street
Fighter IV and tweaked in some ways to make them fit into Street Fighter x
Tekken better. Elena is the only Capcom character not taken from Street Fighter
IV. She plays very similar to her original Street Fighter III persona. The Namco
characters are just as fresh as the ones in the existing line-up. They all have
many of their 3D moves from the Tekken series only with a 2D way of using them.
Alisa still keeps her blade extensions on her arms that she can use during
combat, Bryan is just as psychotic in 2D as he is in 3D, Lei still has his style
changes and Christie can still chain many of her attacks through proper command
inputs. All the Namco characters in the DLC pack have their own unique combos
brought over from Tekken as well.
Just like with the existing line-up, the Namco characters once again bring a
fresh feeling to the Street Fighter 2D gameplay. The majority of the Capcom
characters in the additional characters pack feel very similar to the way they
were in other games. Elena is the only exception on the Capcom side. The Namco
characters are all fun to play and feel like practical new characters compared
to the Capcom side. Even though this pack does add 12 characters, only the Namco
characters feel really new.
The Good:

- Only the Namco characters truly feel fresh
Final Rating: 70%. 12 additional characters join the cast in the new
download content for Street Fighter x Tekken, but only half of them feel new if
you've been playing other Capcom fighters.
