You may be thinking baseball, but you would be wrong; think more of
Spider-Man swinging through the jungle and collecting fruit. You control a bat
who for some reason can shoot a grappling hook mechanism and swing along the
bamboo stalks. You simply hold the screen and the hook will shoot until it
connects with a surface and then let go as you swing. A circle will appear that
tracks your swinging path and it has a green area to let you know where it is
best to let go of your hold to fly through the air. Angry pandas, monkeys, and
enemy bats will try to knock you out of the air (with baseball bats of course),
and you never want to fall to the ground or you will be stunned by a waiting
tiger.
The concept is simple and fun, but each level lasts for a set amount of time
and you are to complete various objectives. This is what holds the game back as
the objectives may require two runs in the same level to complete. Grabbing a
certain amount of fruit allows you to fly, but it is very difficult to apply
accuracy when you don't know what you are swinging toward; you are almost
certain to struggle with the fruit collection objectives. The inherent flaw with
this game is that you may throw a hook that you don't realize will doom you.
It's a very fun game with a charming art style and smooth graphics. Unlocking
outfits is a nice feature, but the objectives could have been removed and the
game would be much more enjoyable with some other measure for success. Swinging
is always a fun, good time, but this game should have left the objectives out of
the way.
