The Marvel Comic Book Creator provides aspiring comic writers without any
artistic talent the chance to create their very own professional looking comics.
The software lets you select a panel layout, pick the background for each panel,
and then add your favorite Marvel characters to each scene … well as long as
your favorite Marvel characters are Wolverine, Spider-man, and Elektra. While
the game does come with a number of backgrounds, characters, and word balloons
to select from, there aren’t enough here to really create any story set in the
Marvel Universe that you’d like. For that you’ll have to purchase the inevitable
expansion packs with the additional content that you need. The software will let
you import your own images for use in your comics, but you won’t be able to mix
these with any of the Marvel content.
The Comic Book Creator is relatively easy to use as long as you’re familiar with
using Windows-based presentation or text layout software. If you’re a PC newbie,
though, it may be a little intimidating at first and you’re going to have to get
passed the learning curve before you can start cranking out comics with ease.
Once you’ve got some comic creations you’ve got a number of options for sharing
them with the world. You can save the comics to a PDF file, to HTML for use on a
website, and to a Flash file that will add the ability to create a virtual comic
book in which you can flip the pages as you read through the comic.
The Comic Book Creator is a pretty powerful tool for those with comic books
inside them trying to get out. You need to already be software savvy and have
the ability to write a story to get the most out of it, though.
You take care of the story and the Comic Book Creator will take care of the art.
