Upper Deck Entertainment (UDE) invites any who dare to enter the Blasted Lands of Azeroth this April as UDE releases the newest additions to the highly popular World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game (TCG). Following the success of the TCG’s initial sets Heroes of Azeroth™ and Onyxia’s Lair™ Raid Decks, UDE continues the saga with Through the Dark Portal™ Starter Sets and Booster packs released today. In addition, limited-edition Molten Core™ Raid Decks will be released in May.
Based on Blizzard Entertainment®’s hit massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG), the TCG allows players to assume the roles of legendary heroes and experience the action and adventure of World of Warcraft in a new format. Released last October, the TCG’s premiere set quickly became the hottest and most-sought-after trading card game in the industry, prompting UDE to reproduce additional quantities to support the overwhelming demand.
Through the Dark Portal features new cards that allow players to now take on the role of Draenei and Blood Elf heroes from Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade™ expansion pack, in addition to new hero options from the previously available races. Each Starter Set contains a 33-card deck built for one of the nine character classes, three oversized Hero cards, two Booster packs to customize decks and one rulebook.
In addition, lucky players will have a chance to find brand new, randomly inserted Loot™ cards that give players who receive them access to unique World of Warcraft in-game items. The set’s new “Rest and Relaxation,” “King Mukla” and “Fortune Telling” cards offer a blanket, a baby gorilla pet and a fortune-telling imp, respectively, and can only be found through the World of Warcraft TCG.
All World of Warcraft TCG products are heavily supported by UDE Organized Play programs, which feature exciting tournaments and programs made especially for the TCG. Regional, National and World Championship tournament series are included in addition to the upcoming international launch of the Darkmoon Faire tour which kicks-off April 27-29 in Austin, TX and will feature numerous World of Warcraft TCG events and tournaments for players of all levels, and exciting prizes made exclusively for Darkmoon Faire.
