The best fantasy MMO of 2006: World of Warcraft was again an overwhelming favorite, the closest competition being Guild Wars.

The best sci-fi MMO of 2006: EVE Online, in a very close race with Star Wars Galaxies.

The best MMO that breaks the mold: Second Life. This award is given to games which might not have the best graphics or detailed combat system, but which decided to do things completely different from other games. Second Life dominated this category, with Puzzle Pirates in second place.

The best expansion/addition of 2006: City of Heroes/Villains Issue 7: Destiny Manifest. Dungeons & Dragons Online: The Demon Sands rounded out second place.

Favorite/most unique race: Elf. That’s right, gamers cannot get enough of the pointy-eared tree-huggers, whether they live in forests, worship the moon or sun, or just like to get their hands covered in the blood of innocents. A minority preferred the Orc, which just goes to show you that people generally like looking at pretty pixilated rears over big, green, warty ones.

Your favorite/most unique class: Ranger. Gamers absolutely love being able to shoot ranged weapons, fight alongside pets, set traps, search for food, and otherwise bond with nature. Second place was a three-way tie between Caster, Rogue, and Tanking

The best MMO trailer released in 2006: Warhammer Online. Second place is another tie, this time between Gods & Heroes and Pirates of the Caribbean Online.

The best drink/snack that keeps us awake to play MMOs: A tie between Bawls and Mountain Dew. This was not an easy victory, however. Second place was a tie between Doritos and the Super-sonic sandwich, while our ‘Other’ category was filled with tons of other options, including coffee and energy drinks. It seems that when gamers want to stay awake, they all have different preferences!

Finally, the most anticipated MMO that wasn’t released in 2006: Warhammer Online. We guess that trailer really got people interested, or maybe it’s just all of the great things Mythic is promising. The nearest competition was Lord of the Rings Online.
