The first round of testing for the fantasy adventure game, which enables fans of the popular animated television series Magi-Nation to become Magi themselves, starts today and will lead up to the game’s open beta service launch in January 2008. Applications are currently being accepted from anyone who wants to sign up for their chance to live the adventure during the beta test. Magi-Nation: Battle for the Moonlands beta participants will be among the first to experience the online game’s intuitive interface that encourages players to take control of the game experience, and user-friendly menu system that enables players to quickly manage their items, spells and creature collection as they go about their journey.
“We are excited for our die-hard Magi-Nation fans to have the first chance at experiencing Magi-Nation: Battle for the Moonlands in our open beta testing, “said Kenneth Locker, senior vice president of digital media, Cookie Jar Entertainment. “The online game truly compliments the animated TV show in new and exciting ways. We are confident fans will enjoy the Magi-Nation story even more as the online game further extends the story and the adventures they’ve come to love in a complete and free entertainment venue.”
Cookie Jar’s Magi-Nation online multiplayer adventure is based on the popular children’s animated television series of the same name, which follows the adventures of 15-year-old Tony Jones, an average teen from Earth who finds himself mysteriously transported to the magical world of Magi-Nation. Tony and his two young Magi heroes-in-training follow an incredible journey of riddles, battle and self-learning on their journey to defeat the evil Shadow Magi who are out to rule their world. Magi-Nation: Battle for the Moonlands marks a major step in Cookie Jar’s entertainment strategy to extend the Magi-Nation property to their fan-base on a multi-pronged approach via television, consumer products and online worlds. The free-to-play, web-based game is geared for children ages 8-14 and incorporates a micropayment model, which allows players the flexibility to upgrade their gaming experience.
